Research background and project

I am a professor of Geriatrics and Ageing Biology at the School of Health and Sport, Lille University, France. My action on health is multidimensional, ranging from health training and education for the identification of reversible fragilities to promoting active ageing driving to successful ageing. I am heading the “glycation, from inflammation to ageing” research team accredited by the Lille University, the University Hospital of Lille, and the Institut Pasteur de Lille, as well as by INSERM at a national level. My research team brings together fundamentalist researchers, teacher-researchers, clinicians, and students of course. Our research activity is focused on the development of drugs (RAGE Receptor antagonists, small molecules) which is strongly implicated in premature ageing during chronic diseases and inflammageing.

I have been elected as Vice Dean in charge of research in our new (2021) Lille School of Health and Sport merging Medicine, Pharmacy, Odontology, Health Engineering and Sport.

With Lynne Cox (Oxford University, UK) we are co-leading the EuGMS Special Interest Group (SIG) on Ageing Biology.
In 2022, I joined the Academic Board of EuGMS (European Geriatrics Medicine Society). Since 2023, I am the Associate Editor of the European Geriatrics Medicine Journal to manage the Biology of Ageing section.
